KOLD’s Valerie Cavazos speaks to Catalina Foothills High School counselor Michael Bryan on what parents can do to help their children stay focused and finish the year strong. He’s been selected as this year’s chemical engineering outstanding senior by the University of Arizona. In addition, he was asked to be the speaker at the Spring 2024 Convocation for the Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering. After graduation, Nik will stay at the University of Arizona to earn his Master’s Degree in chemical engineering. Keep up the good work, Nik! Learn More About the CFSD Alumni Program OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS Both CFHS Seniors Seth Rojas and Ruby Wray are 2024 Flinn Scholars. Multiple students from several CFSD schools placed well in the Arizona Regional Science & Engineering Fair (SARSEF). Twenty-four CFHS students were selected for the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) Regional Honor Choir. CFHS seniors Anissa Madrid, Seth Rojas and Ilana Valenzuela were chosen for the Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards. Congratulations to CFHS Seniors Ethan Blakely, Matalyn Hall, and Luke Sadalla who were named 2024 National Merit Scholarship Finalists. CFHS art student Gwendolyn Alviar was chosen as one of five winners of the Outstanding Emerging High School Artist Award. Pioneer Robotics won the MOTIVATE Award at state competition on February 17. Orange Grove Middle School student Catherin "CoCo" Wang won 1st place in the Aline Goodman Young Artist Award competition at the Tucson Festival of Books Art Contest this year. In year-one of our Early Childhood Education program, senior Alyssa Siwik received the Gold Medal award in her interview competition at this year’s state Family, Career and Community Leaders of America competition. View more outstanding achievements here OPEN ENROLLMENT Open enrollment is a state law that allows students to attend schools outside of their resident school if the receiving school has the capacity to accept them. CFSD residents who wish to attend a school other than their home area school must apply under the open enrollment program as well as non-resident families.
